This is by far my favorite Baofeng so far. From a distance it looks nearly identical to a Motorola APX radio. So far it works well for the price and what I use it for. I would still rather have a commercial radio though. It's still a great beginner radio though and it's cheap too!

Baofeng DM-32UV Talk Permit Tone.m4aTalk Permit Tone
This tone is used to indicate to the user that they are clear to talk on a digital channel. It can be programmed for digital modes on conventional simplex and conventional repeaters. On digital simplex the tone serves no practical use other than being a byproduct of pressing PTT but on digital repeaters it indicates that the radio has authenticated with the repeater and you are free to talk on the channel.

BDC-1200.m4aBDC-1200
This is what BDC-1200 sounds like when listened to in a raw transmission. BDC-1200 sends a 4 digit ID number over the air at the start, end, or both the start and end of a transmission. BDC-1200 is Baofeng's recreation of MDC-1200. Radios that support MDC are fully compatible with BDC and vice versa. This specific ID burst contains the ID "0612"
